19 Jan Appeal allowed for household extensions
Consilio were instructed by Market Design and Build, a RIBA practice, to assist in preparing an appeal statement, on behalf of their client, following the refusal of planning permission for extensions to the dwellinghouse.
Through a detailed analysis of the the established character of the street scene, and identifying the application sites unique setting we were able to demonstrate to the Inspector that the extensions would not impact the setting of the area, to the degree the Council had suggested.
The Inspector agreed with our assessment that the proposed siting of the extensions would not visually impact the character of the host building, or wider area to the extent the planning officer had assessed. In fact the Inspector specifically referenced the proposed design as being complimentary of the host building, and on balance allowed the appeal.
We’re grateful we could assist Market Design and Build with another success at appeal. Whilst we encourage agents and applicants to always work collaboratively with the Council, appeals sometimes cannot be avoided. Should you require any assistance with an appeal, please contact our office for further assistance.
