21 Mar Consilio assist a landowner in avoiding planning enforcement action
Consilio are currently assisting a local Chartered Surveying practice with an enforcement case. The landowner installed air conditioning units to the front façade of a building within a prominent location in South London. Subsequently, LPA enforcement officers wrote to the landowner asking for these to be removed as a matter of importance.
Our planning team were instructed to assist the surveying practice in ensuring a satisfactory outcome to the client’s case. A meeting was arranged with LPA officers and the associated parties, where Consilio offered planning input on matters. Our planning team were able to demonstrate to Officers that whilst accepting the siting of the units was not ideal, effective screening would mitigate the harm they considered previously unacceptable. Examples of other appropriate forms of screening within Central London were shown to LPA Officers to demonstrate the blend that can be achieved between introducing soft landscaping into predominantly urban settings. Following this meeting, it was agreed by all parties that a planning application be prepared that details the screening and natural vegetation.
At the time of drafting this news brief officers were minded to support the application. This is another case where our planning teams Local Planning Authority background and negotiation skillset have ensured a landowner secured a favourable and cost-effective outcome.
